Sonic Pass: Scottsdale

An adaptation of Christopher Janney's Sonic Forest (previously installed at the Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival in New York City and the Three River Arts Festival in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as well as Bannaroo and the Glastonbury Festival), Sonic Pass: Scottsdale features 16 aluminum columns or "trees" creating an interactive alley on the south bank of the Arizona canal between the Soleri Bridge & Plaza and Scottsdale Waterfront.

The 8-foot-tall trees are triggered by event attendees on the canal path, releasing an original score of colored light and sound created by Janney specifically for Canal Convergence.
Sounds include an ever-changing pattern of soothing melodic instruments mixed with environmental sounds indigenous to the Scottsdale area, resulting in a sonic oasis.
