Commissioned originally to be displayed in the Cultural Council Annex offices, Shedding Light was moved to this more public space just after the library opened. This work is made from resin, organic material, and paper. It was completed at the same time as the artist’s commission for the Tempe Center for the Arts, and has some of the same embedded materials taken from the landfill that was originally located on the site of the Arts Center.
Mayme Kratz is originally from San Diego and moved to Arizona in the mid 1980’s. She is represented by Lisa Sette Gallery in Phoenix, Elliott Arts West in New Mexico, and Ann Reed in Idaho.
