Fountain of Youth

This fountain was partly purchased with donations from grade school children in the Scottsdale School District. The free-flowing, tiered fountain is constructed of concrete and is designed to become part of the landscape, blending in with the buildings in the Civic Center complex, which artist and architect Bennie Gonzales also designed.

A native of Arizona, Bennie Gonzales was primarily known for his architecture which can be found throughout the state. He attended Arizona State University and worked as an architect for over 50 years, winning numerous awards and honors for his work. His work is characterized by cultural elements and a lack of 90 degree angles, producing a Southwestern style that has been imitated throughout the region.
