Soak up some Valley art & culture with your fellow locals on this spectacular summer tour of IN FLUX artworks! Join us along with our IN FLUX initiative partners and the third cycle artists for this one of a kind air-conditioned ride—your chance to see all 13 temporary installations in 7 Valley cities.
We'll start the day with coffee for the road generously provided the Orange Table. Between stops, we are playing an IN FLUX exclusive game of Road Trip Bingo highlighting the Valley with our charming tour guides Leslie Barton & Micheal Weakley. (Missed them at Lit Lounge? You're in luck—catch them here!) Bingo game winners are in for surprises all day— prizes are being donated from local businesses throughout the Valley.
It's a big Valley, so we're taking a lunch break in the middle of the tour where we're building our own indoor picnic lunches while being serenaded by the ukulele-playing Justin & Alex of Rough Tough Dynamite.
When the tour ends, we're walking over to SMoCA, for free admission to their current exhibitions and then on to AZ88 for special happy hour offers to IN FLUX Tour ticket-holders—$2.50 mini martinis, $3.00 Session Lagers, and 1 free order of Hell's Fire Chips per table. Perhaps you prefer something sweet for a happy hour treat? Cool Gelato Italiano has you covered! All IN FLUX Tour ticket holders receive 50 cents off any cup or cone on Saturday June 22nd.
The IN FLUX Initiative
IN FLUX demonstrates a holistic approach to temporary public art projects through a showcase of local Arizona artists creating original site-specific artworks presented within the context of viewing the Valley as one community—not a collection of disparate cities and scenes—in an effort to offer new perspective on the connections between community organizations, local businesses, artists, and audiences.
Scottsdale Public Art launched the IN FLUX initiative in October 2010 to connect with and support local artists, merchants, and property owners—bringing renewed vitality to downtown Scottsdale through a series of multi-disciplinary temporary art installations in vacant storefronts. After a successful first year, IN FLUX returned spring 2012 for a second cycle featuring expanded programming and a ground-breaking partnership with Tempe Public Art to reach new audiences and artists throughout the Valley.
The current IN FLUX Cycle 3 began October 2012 with an exciting call to artists offering Valley-wide opportunities through the innovative regional partnership of 7 organizations in 7 cities.
