Check out Scottsdale Public Art on Google Earth

Ever been to Scottsdale, Arizona? If you have not visited Scottsdale, here is a great way to tour the city’s award-winning art collection virtually and to learn about more than 60 permanent artworks—including such fascinating works as Robert Indiana’s LOVE sculpture, The Doors by Donald Lipski or the Hashknife Pony Express monument by Herb Mignery—throughout our community.

The mission of the Scottsdale Public Art (SPA) Program is to make Scottsdale one of the most desirable communities in the country in which to live, work and visit by incorporating art and design projects throughout. In 1985, the City of Scottsdale established the SPA Program with the goal to enhance the quality of life for its residents and visitors. Public art has taken many forms ranging from the walls of the Pima Freeway to James Turrell's "skyspace" at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.

Now that you know a little more about SPA’s mission, let’s get to all the great artworks by viewing the Interactive Cultural Map on Google Earth. Below are easy to follow downloading and navigating instructions. These are a Beginners’ User Guide that will show you how to use Google Earth if you are unfamiliar with it. If you are already familiar with Google Earth, you can bypass the User Guide and scroll to the bottom of this page to access the Interactive Cultural Map.

From all of us at Scottsdale Public Art, thank you for using our Interactive Cultural Map. For those who live in or have visited Scottsdale, we hope this may answer some of your questions. It may also leave you with a desire to keep exploring our artwork or remind you of great memories enjoyed in Scottsdale. And for those who have never been here, we hope to take you through an exciting virtual tour of some of our city’s cultural assets. Take advantage of our free public art and make a trip to Scottsdale in the near future!
