Location

Horizon Park

100th St. Loop NE of Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd.

Description

Completed: 1998

Media: Painted concrete, ceramic tiles (various dimensions)

The artist worked with 20 Scottsdale youths ranging in age from 14 to 18 in order to create this mural at Horizon Park. Students participated in a workshop to develop a theme and then execute the mural. "What excites our spirit" is the emphasis of this project that includes a series of walls and columns that were painted and decorated with colorful tiles and mosaic work. Ceramic leaves, plant forms, and animals, in a variety of bright colors, are also included to create a lyrical expression of our nature and culture.
