Location

A three day public art collaboration which took place at the Scottsdale Festival of the Arts in 1999 on the grounds of the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall.

Description

Completed: 1999

Media: ceramic. 8 x 8'

The three day duration of the Scottsdale Festival of the Arts provided an environment for artist Barry Barnes to work directly with festival attendees in the formation of a free-standing sculpture. Barnes was commissioned to create a lasting legacy for the City of Scottsdale through his involvement with the public. Stationed at the Hands-on Art studio in the downtown Scottsdale, Barnes' studio space became a direct, interactive art experience for festival goers. People contributed to the sculpture by carving and glazing parts which were later assembled together.
