Description

Completed: 1992-1996, December 1st

In honor of the artists whose lives were cut short due to AIDS the City of Scottsdale created projects over a period of five years in conjunction with AIDS Awareness Day. On the first of December a day without art was implemented. Artworks, galleries, and museums were closed to viewing on this day. Candlelight vigils were held also at the Desert Botanical Garden. A photographic installation involving pictures of deceased AIDS victims was accessible to the public. A 'Night Without Light' was formed where lights were shut off around the city in memory of the lost.
