City of Phoenix Matthew A. Henson/HOPE VI Housing Project RFQ An artist or designer will be contracted to design fences and gates for community gardens at the Matthew A. Henson/HOPE VI Housing Project site. The artist will work with the Office of Arts and Culture, the Housing Department, and the HOPE VI team. The project design budget is expected to be approximately $20,000. Once the design for the artwork is approved by the City of Phoenix, the artist would be contracted to fabricate or oversee the fence fabrication. The total construction budget is expected to be approximately $200,000, including expenses for construction, fabrication, installation, permitting approvals and City of Phoenix costs to coordinate the project.
BUDGET: Project Design - $20,000 DEADLINE: July 10, 2009 Children’s Museum of Phoenix RFQ An artist or designer will be contracted to design a fence and gates at the museum. The location along 7th Street in the heart of downtown Phoenix is highly visible. The artist will work with the Children’s Museum, the Office of Arts and Culture, Historic Preservation Office and other city departments. The work will bolster the City’s efforts to improve pedestrian amenities throughout downtown.The design budget for this project is expected to be approximately $25,000. Once the design for the artwork is approved by the City of Phoenix the artist will be issued a contract for fabrication or fabrication oversight. The total construction budget is approximately $300,000 including expenses for construction, fabrication, installation, permitting approvals and City of Phoenix costs to coordinate the project. The bridge will be a 200’-long box truss constructed of steel, concrete and an ipe deck that will be lit with bollard lights on the east side of the bridge at 40’ intervals. The bridge will be visible from a distance from the west, as far away as the I-40 Bridge over the Mississippi River (Hernando DeSoto Bridge), and Mud Island River Park. Three finalists will be selected and asked to develop a general concept, each receiving an honorarium and travel reimbursement. Technical capabilities to design and install a lighting project are preferred, as well as experience with “green” lighting products, such as those with lower energy consumption and longer lifespan. ***************************************************************************** CANADA Calgary, Ontario The City of Calgary Public Art Program As part of this multi-day event, The City of Calgary Public Art Program, in partnership with the City of Calgary WorldSkills 2009 Project Management Office, is please to present two public art opportunities for artists whose genre utilizes one or more of the skilled trades highlighted in the WorldSkills Calgary 2009 competition. The first opportunity will have the selected artist located on-site at Stampede Park directly in the midst of the WorldSkills Calgary 2009 competition. The budget for this public art opportunity is $4000.00 (inclusive of GST). The budget is all-inclusive and must provide for all expenses related to the project. The second opportunity will have the selected artist located on-site at either Olympic Plaza or the Municipal Plaza. This site will be linked to the ‘Artisan Village’ being programmed as a satellite event that complements WorldSkills Calgary 2009. The completed artwork will remain in-situ for the month of September, at which time it will be moved to a permanent location as determined by the City of Calgary.
